| My my how xanga has changed. I have to say that I do not like it. I just took me T minute 15sec to find the link to start a new entry. I am not liking this trend amongst Facebook and Xanga to make their websites more ad focused. It is so obvious they want us to click on their ads but unfortuantely we didn't come here to shop. I digress.
The real reasons I came back to blogging was 1. I realized one day while reading another blog on alternative energy speifically fuel cells, that maybe I should have a blog about something I am passionate about. 2. I have been feeling emotionally saturated lately and while writing doesn't help persay it is kinda nice to go back and read what I write during times like these.
My emotional increase isn't purely or even mostly from sadness but more from aniexity, nervousness, uncertainity mixed with moments of strong desire and excitement.

| I arrived in Easter Island today and it was amazing. I felt like I did when I arrived in Antarctica. The first steps off the plane were amazing. The scenery just hits you dead on. The poeple on teh runway. Some who were returnees and who were greated by the locals. | | |
| I made it to Sao Paulo!! there is an underlying excitement that shows itself when I talk with some of the people who work in the hostel or with the guy who picked me up. I met a guy in the line at the immigration office who was starting on a two year missionary trip here in Brazil. He is not permitted to leave or have visitors. He has to wear a suit everyday and try to find people and talk with them about the church. IN some ways I envy him having the availability to be here for 2 years and become fluent in Portuguese, a language I have fell in love with. By on the other hand I feel sorry for him because he seems to be still trapped in the states and is seeking to change the environment that he going to instead of letting the environment change him. Anyway, I must go and freshen up and then get something to eat.

| I just finished up my homestay with Lee and Nigel and it ended better than I could have thought. Lee’s brother works for the airlines as a mechanic. He invited Nigel and David, Lee’s stepfather, along that night to see the plane and see how it works. Lee’s invited me along and it was an amazing experience. We left at midnight and drove to the Christchurch airport. We met up with her brother and after going through security and all we got go on the plane and sit in the cockpit. He fired up the engines and ran his safety checks on the systems. He then showed us the outside of the plane. It was quite an experience. The next morning I got up and hung around for abit and then went back to Christchurch. Today not as exciting. I have just been sending stuff home and wrapping up things that have been lingering on. | | |
| I have had the greatest time in the past 24 hours. Friday night I hung out with Brian who was one of my co-workers in the UT Shop on the ice. He was actually leaving to go back from another winter. We walked around Christchurch trying to catch up with the other UT shop guys. We never caught up but did run into other people coming off the ice. In the morning I headed out to Rangiora to meet up with Nigel and Lee my first host from the help exchange. The help exchange is basically like WWOFing but its short term stays and not necessarily with organic farms. They are a very nice couple and I enjoyed talking with them. They have a garden where the get leaves and vegetables. They aren't vegetarians but eat fairly healthy. Nigel has a keen eye for mechanical things and has made a few things around hte house. Especially about New Zealand politics and about how they met was over the internet. They were orginanly planning a big party to celebrate their recent wedding. They ended up canceling it due to weather but some people still showed up because they didn't get the message. So we sat around and talked and had sushi and BBQ. Talking with them and another couple that met on the internet was very interesting. Internet dating allows one to go out wihtout feeling like they have to stay in one relationship becuase they don't have any options. Plus one can be very upfront beginning and let people know where you stand. | | |
